Gday all
I love the 1930s tune " With You" written by Irving Berlin. If a fellow poster here has it on either 88 or DA and is interested in selling , let me know........... many thanks.
Regards Daniel
**The same tune can be heard on youtube ,been played on a restored Knabe Grand and is a joy to listen too** |

if it's in the 50 rolls I have on their way I'll send it to you,
collecting the first 29 of those tonight and I have no idea about the titles.

It's Duo-Art 0718 (USA) or 0978 (UK) played by Gene Kerwin. Same performance in 88-note form as Meloto 31679. Not got any of them! It doesn't appear to have been scanned yet, either, in any form.

I too like the song With You. There are two renditions of the same roll of it on YouTube, sadly both incomplete.
The first has the introduction edited out, but is otherwise complete:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zqvYT-n7BY
A comment by a well-known professional pianist using his former YouTube name nedsparks tells us: “With You (Irving Berlin) from the UA film Puttin' On The Ritz (released March 1930). Played by Adam Carroll, AMPICO roll number 212611, released May 1930.”
The second version of With You, on the same piano after some ragtime, has the intro but the last chorus or two is missing.

Perhaps someone can say whether the Adam Carroll version of With You was also released on Duo-Art, as well as Ampico; and if there was an 88-note Meloto roll.
The Ampico roll has certainly been scanned. I acquired a Midi to music-score print out some two years ago and learned the first few pages to better understand Carroll’s style, which I have attempted to hand play on occasion at player piano social meetings.
A very fine gramophone recording of With You played by master of syncopation Billy Mayerl appears in a medley of songs from Puttin' On The Ritz. Made under the pseudonym Laddie Ray, it can be heard online thanks to the archives of Radio Dismuke. The audio link is about half way down this page:

I have not heard the Gene Kerwin arrangement but would be interested to see how it compares with those by Adam Carroll and Billy Mayerl, who set very high standards.
Best wishes,
John Watson |

This was pre-merger so no, the only DA is the one I said earlier, the Gene Kerwin version. Its 88-note versions were Meloto Dance 31679, Meloto Song 38595, Metrostyle 40141 - no 'double-dance' versions were issued at this date.
It's certainly not one of the commoner rolls - nobody seems to have scanned it, and I've not seen an 88-note or DA copy.
