A rather spectacular instrument now pianola-less. A little bit expensive in the circumstances....and something in german about is being in the reichsfuhrer's bunker or something....oh dear!

very nice instrument that last one, only bit too expensive for my student budget I'm afraid...

The 1st instrument from the above post, looks like something that was found in Tutankhamun’s treasures.....very impressive Finnish!
The 2nd looks just brand new , the restoration is top notch and what a gem to own......if only.
Daniel :)

Speaking of Tutankhamen..
A friend here in New Zealand once owned Howard Carter's piano, gifted by Lord Carnavaron. It was an ornate ebony upright with carved Egyptian figures of Anubis for the legs, jade scarab beetles, and hieroglyphics all carved over the case. The original letter to Carter that accompanied the piano was mounted in a frame inside the case.
Funnily enough, the previous owners of the piano seemed to be affected by the so-called Curse of Tut - the owner before my friend lost a husband in a domestic airline accident, then just as she'd found happiness with a new man a few years later, he contracted a virulent form of cancer and was gone within weeks!
My friend was unaffected, however.. and last he heard of the piano, it was located in a Maori marae (meeting house) somewhere down the line, with all the carvings chiselled off and kids drawings all over the case. Sad end :(

There's an increasing trend on eBay UK, whereby accordions are being listed under the player piano category. This wouldn't bother me, other than the fact that I loathe the things!
Am I missing something here though? I fail to see the connection between player pianos and accordions. Ok, they have a keyboard, bellows and run on air, but there the similarity ends. There is specific eBay category for accordions, with many sellers listing under both, which makes this all the more bewildering.
Thoughts of others? Hope I haven't offended any accordion lovers, by the way!

I think this one speaks for itself! Perhaps I'll email the seller and ask if it's 65 or 88 note.

While you're at it -ask him if he has any rolls to go with it - most sellers seem to have a few :D

curiously, as I originally come from very near the part of the world where that seller is located I have a strange sensation I've seen that instrument in the building where it now is...about 10 years ago! If it is the same one, the "dealer" though it was worth quite a fair amount more than its now being offered for. PS ...no, it's not a player!

I think that accordions first appeared in the Pianola section of UK eBay from Italian vendors, because of common Italian usage of the term 'pianola' for small keyboard instruments - have a look at ebay.it to spot all the Casio junk so labelled. From then it's just been idiot sellers copying blindly, seemingly unable to spot that they have their very own section!
