£3,500? Knock off two zeros more like!
There was a very nice Yamaha keyboard for sale the other year I remember seeing. The seller had put it on it's stand to photograph it.....in their bathroom (which was probably the only place with floorspace judging by the general untidiness of the place) A nice shot of the keyboard was bordered with the open lavatory, the sink and the bath and some damp towels on the floor. The only thing even worse than this are those photos people take of small goods photographedclose-up against a background of their nasty grubby looking 1970s bedspread or some fag-smoke filthy unvacuumed carpet. I love eBay.

ebay comic offerings Hi Guys
check this one out!
Especially where they say they didn't check it out with a roll but it powers up and the motor is quiet.
How long does it take to stick a roll in and see if it plays!
It seem questionable therefore as to whether it works or not?
And how about " it appears to be made of solid Mahogany with a mahogany finish"!
Andy
pianola Dan,
It is a modern (70's -80's) Aeolian player piano (Not Duo Art Expression)
Nothing antique about it!
Andy
Will send your pointer, have been busy!

There were made in the 60s / 70s and certainly they were also called "Duo Art" by the makers. It was just a recycled nostalgic name though and I don't think it was intended to fool people into thinking it was "the real McCoy". Antique? Strictly speaking an antique must be 100+ years old so few player pianos are technically antique. The advert is pretty neutral : the worst morons you see sell these under the illusion that it is indeed an original Duo-Art from the 20s and a very valuable one too therefore. AU$1500 is probably not a bad price for this type of instrument.
duo-art-dan- 07-03-2007
I knew that the duo-art term was a recycled name by Aeolian at this time , but wasn't the player called a "Sting"................and the saying went "Dont buy a sting or you will be stung".
Though it looks pleasant to the eye i wouldn't want one with plastic valves.
Adam Ramet- 07-03-2007
There was one called the "Sting" after the 1973 film with Scott Joplin's music. There were quite a few modern-era player pianos made in the 50s 60s and 70s (and since!) by various companies. The Duo-Art name was on some well before the Sting. There was an article in the Player Piano Group's 1/4erly journal a while back about these and post-war key-top playersliek the Dynavoice etc. You do hear stuff about plastic valve blocks etc but take each instrument on its own merits. Some play very well still, some need some TLC. I've played on a few of these late console type player pianos and they're usually perfectly good fun for the money. A few turn up in the UK from time to time also.
rolls Would you pay £45 (inc postage) for that lot?!
Who knows what condition the rolls are in?
I have some that start off ok and then the edges get so rough that they won't play.
Andy :)

they can't even get a clear picture of it because it's haunted??? I looked at the pictures. They need to stub out that cigarette that in their mouth that's making all that smoke right beneath the lens and try not to wipe the lens with Kentucky Fried Chicken fingers. This is worse than eBay - it's gBay on it's was to zeeBay.
