Billy Mayerl e-Concert online FREE!
On the Player Piano Group website there is now a first e-Concert of midi files. This features 11 selections played by Billy Mayerl on the Echo label in the early 1920s. Hi Adam, I accessed the page but the MIDI downloads aren't there! Clicking the various selections results in a 'file not found' message. I've been looking forward to hearing more of these for a long time. I found the Echo story fascinating, and would love to add one or two to my collection, but they just don't turn up here! A friend has 'Blue Danube Blues' played by Cuthbert Clarke and M. Purvey, but that's the only Echo roll I've ever seen in NZ. Is there any chance you could transcribe what Mayerl wrote about his time with the Echo company? I've seen a brief paraphrase of what he said but would be interested in more detail. (Just taken delivery of a Disklavier last week. It's an older one that doesn't approach a well-regulated Duo-Art or Ampico, but it's still nice to listen to my rollscans and the scans of others)

Hi there Robert, I reloaded the stuff just now and it all seems to download and save....not quite where I uploaded them to last time! Oops! LOL Anyway, hope you enjoy these. There's c.37 in total and on this page are 11, there's another 2 on my own wensite with a 3rd one (Wonderful One) to follow next month sometime. We are aiming to do all 37 known titles. They're all very variable but that's what makes them interesting unlike the totally polished Aeolian products. I have quite a few Echo rolls and will scan some more so you can hear a few others for comparison. Enjoy! regards Adam
