Well spotted, Adam!
However, the shape of the spoolbox suggests that this is a 'flat top' player, which would make it too old to be a genuine 88-note example. I can't determine from the pictures whether it has 88 fingers.
Thoughts of others?

No, the dimensions of the instrument shown in the photo show it as an 88-note example. The top 3 note rods were disconnected to fit an 85-note piano.
As to flat tops : yes, flat top players in the UK and US were 65s (Model K) HOWEVER the French-sold late 88-note Aeolian Pianola push-ups DO have flat tops. Douglas Heffer has one or is it two (I think one converted to Duo-Art) and they have flat tops I am sure. Take a look at a picture of a Model K and then at the sold item and you'll see the Model K is squarer and the 88-note flat-top is (obviously) longer.
As it went for the ridiculously low price of around UKĀ£100 someone in Portugal got an absolute bargain! Could have at least added an extra zero to that figure in that condition!
The Cecilian is interesting but over-priced for something not working. They have metal unit valves which are hard to restore (see Reblitz book).

Hi there,
I'm the winner of the ebay 88-note flat type 'push-up' French made Aeolian pianola.I'm from Lisbon Portugal.
This it's a very late model and althogh in the ebay pics there is no top i have receive it compleat. The case it's very poor but any way i have already restore worst...It's a single valve type, small bellows, tracking devise, very well made instrument,of course i'm going to keep it for me.In 10 years of player pianos work it's only i saw with just 88 notes, not the 65/88.
